Scheduling Appointments
When you schedule an appointment with me, you are reserving a dedicated time and space for your care. If you know you’ll need to miss a session, please let me know at least 2 weeks in advance. For extended or repeated absences, we will need to make a specific arrangement in advance.
Phone Calls and Texts
I strive to respond to messages as promptly as possible, typically within 24 hours. However, this may not always be feasible. If you have an immediate or urgent concern for your safety or the safety of others, please call 911 or the Sutter Center for Psychiatry at (916) 386–3000.
Payment
Full payment or co-payments are due at the time of your initial evaluation and at the start of each session. I accept cash, check, and payments through IvyPay. For patients in ongoing treatment, I can provide monthly billing statements as a courtesy. Balances are not carried for longer than one month except by prior arrangement.
Medication Refills
To avoid running out of medications, please check your supply regularly and bring any refill requests to your appointments.
Controlled Substances and Other Medications
I prescribe medications with care and caution, especially those with potential for addiction. When I do prescribe controlled substances, it is typically at a low dose and for a limited period. I do not prescribe pain medications, medical marijuana, or medications outside my area of expertise.
Paperwork
While I prioritize direct patient care over paperwork (such as insurance forms, disability forms, and letters), I understand these are sometimes important. You may use part of your appointment time to complete paperwork requests. For extensive paperwork, I may charge a prorated fee based on the time required.
Records Release
Confidentiality is essential to treatment and is a responsibility I take seriously. I do not release therapy notes except when required by a judge’s order. With your signed permission, I can share information with you or your healthcare providers and provide a brief treatment summary if needed.
Session Length
Each session lasts 50 minutes.
